About Us

A proud History, A Strong Future

ATG has been providing transport solutions since 2004

The establishment of the Australian Transit Group occurred in 2004, following the purchase of the Prior Group of companies. This group included Mandurah Bus Charter, Fortesque Bus Services, and a number of school bus contracts across the southern coastal area of Western Australia.

The company's journey began under the leadership of Ben Doolan, who still sits at the helm as the CEO. His steadfast commitment and ongoing investment in the company's future reflects his dedication to spearheading its growth and success.

Would be good to add reference to how other brands came about, however brief, be they creations or acquisitions.

Gannaways, SWCL, Quinces, ATG Downunder, Buswest.

ATG extended their portfolio the next year by acquiring Kalamunda Bus Services and Carnarvon Bus Charters, cementing their role as a leading provider of bus transport solutions. This expansion necessitated a revamp of internal processes and systems to ensure consistent provision of high-quality services.

ATG has demonstrated impressive growth through numerous acquisitions and competitive tender wins, expanding its fleet to over 1000 buses nationwide, however the company's ambition doesn't stop there. The recent acquisition of Pilbara Car and Truck Rental [in 1999] marks ATG's foray into the mining sector and alternate vehicle hire and transportation solutions.

Presently, ATG provides its services via six unique bus brands, which are well-recognised in both city and regional areas across Australia. The company continues to concentrate on addressing the transport problems of its customers at a community level, and remains an entirely Australian-owned, operated, and administered entity, taking pride in being a dependable, systems-oriented, and trustworthy partner.

Environmental Considerations

Environmental

ATG is committed to the protection of the natural environment and continual improvement in our environmental performance. Furthermore, ATG is driven by a set of core values that prioritise its employees, the communities it serves, environmental responsibility, customer satisfaction, and the longterm sustainability of the organisation.

Every worker and sub-contractor of ATG is responsible for adhering to the firm’s policies and the collective environmental objectives. ATG recognise that contributing to a healthy environment is in the best interests of the firm’s employees, clients, the broader community, along with the ongoing sustainability of ATG.

Recent key actions include:

  • Appointing a Chief Risk Officer to specifically address environmental risks and develop a comprehensive risk management strategy.
  • Implementing environmental and safe work management policies aligning with our sustainability commitment.
  • Implementing supplier requirements addressing environmental and safety concerns to ensure compliance with its standards. This focus allows for quick responses to compliance requirements from contractor management portals. Ignoring these triggers now risks contract withdrawal.
  • Conformance with ISO 14001 standards for Environmental hazards, and the dedication to Occupational Health & Safety via adherence to ISO 45001.

The firm is exploring alternative fuel options for its diesel fleet, such as hydrogen fuel cells and electric vehicles, and will carefully plan the necessary infrastructure development with oversight from the board and senior management.

Social Considerations

Social

ATG acknowledges the significance of its societal agreement with the communities in which it operates, ensuring a positive impact is disseminated through social initiatives and community involvement. The dedication to these pursuits is ingrained in the core of the company’s corporate persona.

The key planks of the firm’s social considerations include:

  • Indigenous Interactions: fostering partnerships and joint ventures with legitimate indigenous corporations, to direct financial resources into communities and offering career pathways and understanding community needs through open dialogue.
  • Workforce Diversity, Inclusion and Labour Practices: valuing diversity and inclusion across a workforce of over 900, along with prioritising gender and cultural diversity together with the actively supporting community initiatives through financial contributions, logistical support, event sponsorships and the encouragement of employee volunteerism.
  • Sustainability and Responsible Practices - a drive to minimise environmental impact by managing waste responsibly, reducing emissions, and conserving natural resources, underpinned by a deep sense of responsibility toward communities and ecosystems.

ATG understands that the well-being of the community is intricately linked to success and are resolute in the commitment to making a meaningful and lasting difference.

Governance Considerations

Governance

ATG acknowledges the importance of strong governance to cater to the diverse needs of our stakeholders. These principles, fundamental to our operations, are intended to guarantee strict standards and transparent communication of policies to all stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.

  • ATG has developed an online platform known as ATGway that sets out the firm's code of conduct and ethical values. It offers directions on appropriate behaviour and business practices, underlining the importance of safety, fairness, collaboration, respect, and honesty. These standards are applicable not only to staff members, but also to consultants, contractors, suppliers, partners in joint ventures, and other interested parties.
  • The firm takes pride in its flexible workforce that is responsive to both customer demands and employee needs. To ensure ethical conduct and accountability, we strictly adhere to labour laws and have added the 'Closing Loopholes' amendment to our policies, specifically addressing casual employment. Our governance framework is robust, with an independent board of directors, reinforcing our commitment to uphold the highest standards of compliance and integrity.
  • At ATG, safety cultures and procedures are not simply a regulation or a guideline, they are deeply embedded in our day-to-day activities, fundamentally becoming our lifestyle. Any contemplation of cost reduction initiatives is seen through the lens of safety to guarantee that a prevailing culture of secure work habits is not compromised.
